Course overview
This course, based on guidelines laid down by the Mountain
Leader Training Board, provides an insight into First Aid and
the specific skills required to treat injuries or illnesses
that may occur in an outdoor environment. Delegates learn essential
skills through practical scenarios and role play.
Who is it for?
This course is for those who may participate in recreational
or sporting activities or who may have to work outdoors. This
may include walkers, climbers, canoeists and forestry workers.

- Casualty Assessment
- Unconsciousness
- CPR
- Wounds and Bleeding
- Maintaining outdoor first aid kits
- Hypothermia
- Drowning
- Anaphylaxis
Course Objectives
By the end of the course the delegate will have participated
in practical exercises designed to reinforce essential First
Aid knowledge. As a result, they will be more equipped to deal
with outdoor emergencies.
Assessment
This course is not formally assessed but delegates will receive
a certificate of attendance
Duration
Minimum of 16 Hours (normally run over 2 days)
This course can be run in-house for up to 15 delegates or
individuals can attend our open courses.
