Course Overview
This course provides delegates with an opportunity to practise and update their skills through a combination of formal training and practical scenarios. Following the recent changes to First Aid legislation (Oct 2009), the HSE now strongly recommend that delegates should refresh their first aid knowledge and skills annually. This course is designed to include the HSE recommended syllabus.
Who is it for?
This course is for those who have attended a more comprehensive first aid training course in the previous 3 years.
Topics covered
- Assess the situation in an emergency
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious and/or in seizure
- Administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and/or in shock
- Recent changes in practice or procedures
- Other topics highlighted by delegates
Course Objectives
By the end of the course the delegate will have demonstrated their competence in the above topics.
Assessment
This course is not formally assessed but delegates must be able to demonstrate competence in order to receive a certificate of attendance.
Duration
3.5 hours. This course can be run in-house for up to 12 delegates.
