CIEH Level 2 Award in Health & Safety in Health and Social Care
The HSE reported that health and social care workers suffer an average of 12,233 diseases, injuries, and dangerous occurrences per year. This qualification provides candidates with a good understanding and knowledge of health & safety in the health and social care sector.

Course Objectives
Successful completion of the training programme will enable candidates to understand the:
- Importance of risk assessment in the prevention of accidents and occupational ill-health.
- Health, safety and welfare of staff and patients/clients in the health and social care sector.
- Relevant legislation relating to good hygiene practice.
- Concepts of hygiene hazards and infection control.
- Importance of good personal hygiene.
- Need for high standards of cleanliness to help prevent infection.
Assessment
There is a multiple-choice examination and successful candidates will receive a nationally recognised CIEH certificate. Ouch attendance certificates will be issued to delegates not taking the exam or for those who are unsuccessful in the exam. Accreditation for this course is currently being sought from the QCF.
Course Duration
Minimum of 6 hours - this course can be run in-house for up to 12 delegates.
