Introduction to Health & Safety in the Workplace
This introductory course is specifically designed to cover Health & Safety issues commonly found in a work environment. This course maybe tailored to suit different work environments, e.g. Office, construction warehouse etc. The Health and Safety at Work Act requires employers to take active measures to ensure a safe place of work and to provide information and training to staff.
Who is it for?
This course is suitable for all employees working in an office environment, and may form part of a company induction programme.
Topics covered include:
- Legislation
- Hazardous substances
- DSE use
- Ergonomics
- Health, safety and welfare issues (lighting heating, stairways etc)
- Fire safety
- Electrical safety
Course Objectives
The course will enable the delegate to work safely and to contribute to improving health and safety in the organisation, through an increased understanding of health & safety rules and working procedures.
Assessment
There is a multiple-choice examination and successful candidates will receive an ouch certificate. Ouch attendance certificates will be issued to delegates not taking the exam or for those who are unsuccessful in the exam.
Course Duration
Between 3-6 hours. This course can be run in-house for up to 12 delegates.
